The lobster capital by

April 21, 2021

On a breezy day in February, Harriet took to the historic harbour of Bridlington to chat to members of the local fishing fleet. Did you know this town is renowned as the leading shellfish port in Europe? The community are even calling for Bridlington to be crowned the ‘Lobster capital of Europe’ for its famous crustaceans. With quaint fishing boats lining the harbour, delicious freshly caught seafood, sandy beaches and sheer white cliffs of nearby Flamborough Head (one of the most important seabird colonies in Europe)  – Bridlington is certainly worth the visit.

Bridlington is home to a diverse fishing fleet, from small day boats to larger vessels.

The coast of Bridlington can be wild, with swells from the chilly North Sea rolling in.

Fishing is part of the fabric of the town.
