A taste of history
The winners of National Historic Ships UK’s 2015 photography competition were announced last week as part of the charity’s annual awards ceremony. The awards are a celebration of the UK’s maritime heritage and encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to engage with historic vessels through photography, volunteering, or by operating them and encouraging the public to go on board at festivals and events held around the UK coasts, lakes, and rivers.
The overall winner was Alaistair Ramsay from Anstruther, Fife for his image, Reaper passing The Blocks at St Monans, which was chosen from a strong field of more than 400 entries. The £1,000 prize will go to a vessel of Alaistair’s choice on the National Register of Historic Vessels. Here’s a selection of some of the outstanding images, beginning with his.
