How to clean mussels
1. Wash the mussels in cold water and scrub with a stiff brush. Scrape off any barnacles with a knife. Discard any mussels that are not tightly shut after being given a tap.

2. Hold the mussel in one hand and the fibrous beard in the other and pull out the beard. The mussels are now ready to cook.
